Nana Visitor was born into the theater life. Her grandmother, Calliope, taught her 11 children to dance and moved them from Paris to perform in top vaudeville circuits around the world. When the act broke up, many of the children became dance teachers. Her uncle, Nico Charisse, taught and eventually married dancer Cyd . Nana’s mother became a legendary ballet teacher in New York City and married choreographer Robert Tucker. Ms. Visitor learned to dance and entertain from her mother, Nenette. Learning French cooking techniques, Nana gave her first four-course dinner party at age 16.
In between performing in numerous Broadway shows, TV series [such as Star Trek Deep Space 9, cult favorite Dark Angel and Wildfire], Nana has always expressed her creativity through cooking. She is a strong believer that “love, care and the best ingredients feed the soul.” Nana claims that after New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, “living in Corrales feels like home.” She revels in using local produce in her cooking and baking.
